Japanese Silver Grass

19 Mar

Japanese Silver Grass (Miscanthus sinensis), winter deciduous, clump forming grass with great fall interest, light green blades are sharply pointed, long feathery panicles in fall, attracts butterflies, full sun to part shade, moderate moisture

This is a large grass for back of border or mass plantings; it needs to be cut to the ground each winter and is best situated at the back of a border or in background areas where it is covered by other plants while it regrows. Panicles are tall and dramatic, and are very ornamental as they age through fall, especially when backlit.

Miscanthus sinensis is native to temperate climate zones across China, Korea and Japan.
