Crimson Spot Rockrose

Crimson Spot Rockrose (Cistus ladanifer), evergreen perennial, 5-6 ft., forms a woody shrub, white flowers with red spot spring through fall, native, drought tolerant and deer resistant.

Cistus is a diverse group of evergreen shrubs including about 20 species that are popular for their bright flowers and drought resistance. Native to the Mediterranean region and available from nurseries across the state, these tough plants do best in sunny locations, in well drained soil and little summer water. They range in size from 12 in. in height to over 10 ft., and colors are white, pink and deep rose with yellow centers. Excellent in Mediterranean style gardens, or combined with native plants, Rockrose are easy to care for and attractive year round.
